Moving from the anxiety of contemporary times and from the deep ethic and environmental imbalances of global industrial society, the research of Luca Giannini (Bologna, 1972) is focused on the increasing need of a new awareness of mankind which is centred upon the recover of sacrality of Mother Earth, transformed into a poor subject of exploitation or speculation, and on a unitary view of reality which may overcome the intellectual distinctions between individuality and collectivity, matter and energy, microcosm and macrocosm, as always taught by the ancient esoteric and alchemical traditions of eastern and western world.
After a degree in environmental engineering at the University of Bologna, he moves to Rome and applies to RUFA Art Academy, attending the course of painting by Tullio De Franco, the course of sculpture by Davide O. Dormino and the course of engraving by Maria Pina Bentivenga. For a couple of years he moves to South-Eastern Sicily, where he comes into contact with the artists of the so called group of Scicli. He attends a master on marketing of cultural events promoted by Abis Multicom and he begins experimenting with photography. Travelling to North Africa and India leads him interesting in the relationship between philosophy, mysticism and science. After coming back to Rome, he starts exhibiting in public venues and private galleries and in 2007 he wins 11th International Prize “Massenzio”. He improves his knowledge on painting pigments by attending a course held by Claudio Pellegrini, promoted by InArt cultural association of Rome. In Modica, , South-East Sicily, he opens “Anime a Sud”, an artist house of charm for eco-travellers fond of art. He starts collaborating with ArteFact Art Hotel Consulting, London, which selects some of his works for the permanent collection of Castel Monastero Tuscan Retreat. He currently lives in Rome.
